Description: Analysis » Research—3,268 words (including links). Introductory Commentary—220 words.

Commentary: This Index of electronic publications references the scientific/medical basis for the application and effectiveness of vitamin C at high doses for various infectious diseases and illnesses—including some of the most controversial at the date of this writing. My starting point was the work of Thomas Levy, MD., since one of his books documents over 1,200 scientific references and another of his titles addresses securing treatment in the face of reluctant medical practitioners.1

For details regarding the medical profession’s ostracization of high dosage Vitamin C clinical results see Works Cited.2

This Index primarily sources clinical studies and vitamin C advocacy relying on verified cases, treatments, tests, trials, research and records by credentialed medical practitioners and scholars. Title inclusion requires sources to have been authored by one of the aforementioned health care practitioners or academic scholars. On a case-by-case basis titles authored by non-credentialed individuals are included in this index when the subject matter focuses on Vitamin C high-dosage content at the direction of, or involving credentialed medical practitioners, health care professionals or academic scholars.

Video titles in this Index are exempt of the above-referenced “authorship” requirements. However, such titles are content/coverage about the high dosage Vitamin C work product of said individuals or documented medical cases/instances of application beyond the scope of written material.

This is a periodically expanding collection.

VITAMIN C INDEX: PUBLICATIONS, RESEARCH and VIDEOS
(THE C-INDEX)

Index Titles utilize the following file-naming convention:

• Date item publish by year, followed by an underscore ( _ ) as well as the four-digit month and day (“X” for unknown days and months)

• Ailment, illness, infection, disease, toxin addressed by item

• Title of clinical study, paper, document, work, web page, video, etc.

• Running time in hours and minutes (for videos)

• File extension of .pdf or .mp4 when title appears in online or download link

The above elements are delineated separately within each title by a right-pointing double angle quotation mark (»), otherwise known as a guillemet or sideways double chevron. Index entries also include page counts, file sizes, excerpts, topics and URL sources at which titles can be read or from which titles can be downloaded.

Article from website Daily Messenger (mpnnow.com) • 2 pages • 977 KB
by Ken Walker, M.D. (Gifford-Jones, M,D.).

EXCERPT #1
“I applaud the doctor in a Wuhan hospital who announced the start of a randomized, triple-blind clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of 12-24 grams/day of intravenous vitamin C (IVC). But the results won’t be known for months. Meantime, people die needlessly.

EXCERPT #2
“Why do Chinese health authorities not know that we’ve already got enough research? Why does the World Health Organization (WHO), with its vast resources and expertise, dither on this issue? Vitamin C is cheap, harmless, and widely available—any pharmacy can make an IVC solution. IVC has been proven effective in reducing mortality from viral infections. Not to provide it to COVID-19 patients is akin to medical murder.”

Article from Orthomolecular Medicine News Service (orthomolecular.org) • 6 pages • 0.99 MB
by Andrew W. Saul, Ph.D., Editor.

EXCERPT #1
“The coronavirus pandemic can be dramatically slowed, or stopped, with the immediate widespread use of high doses of vitamin C. Physicians have demonstrated the powerful antiviral action of vitamin C for decades. There has been a lack of media coverage of this effective and successful approach against viruses in general, and coronavirus in particular.”

EXCERPT #2
“It is important to remember that preventing and treating respiratory infections with large amounts of vitamin C is well established. Those who believe that vitamin C generally has merit, but massive doses are ineffective or somehow harmful, will do well to read the original papers for themselves. To dismiss the work of these doctors simply because they had success so long ago sidesteps a more important question: Why has the benefit of their clinical experience not been presented to the public by responsible governmental authorities, especially in the face of a viral pandemic?”

TOPICS
Antiviral action of vitamin C; influenza; magnesium; selenium; virus-induced respiratory infections; vitamin C; Vitamin D; Zinc.

1994_XXXX » Maladies » Vitamin C Titrating to Bowel Tolerance
Article from website Orthomed.com • 15 pages • 346 KB
by Robert F. Cathcart, M.D

EXCERPT #1
“Over the past ten-year period I have treated over 9,000 patients with large doses of vitamin C... The effects of this substance when used in adequate amounts markedly alters the course of many diseases. The amount of ascorbic acid which can be taken orally...when a person is ill sometimes is over ten times the amount he would tolerate if well. This...serves not only to indicate the amount which should be taken but indicates the unsuspected and astonishing magnitude of the potential use that the body has for ascorbate under stressful conditions.”

EXCERPT #2
“I have avoided the treatment of cancer patients for legal reasons; however, I have given nutritional consults to a number of cancer patients and have observed an increased bowel tolerance to ascorbic acid. Were I treating cancer patients, I would not limit their ascorbic acid ingestion to a set amount but would titrate them to bowel tolerance. Ewan Cameron’s advice against giving cancer patients with widespread metastasis large amounts of ascorbate too rapidly at first should be heeded. He found that sometimes extensive necrosis or hemorrhage in the cancer could kill a patient with widespread metastasis if the vitamin was started too rapidly. Hopefully, in the future ascorbic acid will be among the initial treatments given cancer patients.”

1971_XXXX » Maladies » Observations on the Dose and Administration of Ascorbic Acid
Article from The Journal of Applied Nutrition • 26 pages • 458 KB
by Frederick R. Klenner, M.D., F.C.C.P.

EXCERPT
“Ascorbic acid...is a powerful oxidizer and when given in massive amounts... it acts as a ‘Flash Oxidizer,’ often correcting the pathology within minutes. Ascorbic acid is also a powerful reducing agent…neutralizing...certain toxins, exotoxins, virus infections, endotoxins and histamine...in direct proportion to the...lethal factor involved and the amount of ascorbic acid given. At times it is necessary to use ascorbic acid intramuscularly. It should always be used orally, when possible, along with the needle... If one is to employ ascorbic acid intelligently, some index for requirements must be realized. Unfortunately there exists today a sort of ‘brand’ called ‘minimum daily requirements.’ This illegitimate ‘child’ has been co-fathered by the National Academy of Science and The National Research Council and represents a tragic error in judgement. There are many factors which increase the demand by the body for ascorbic acid, and unless these are appreciated, at least by physicians, there can be no real progress. It is vitally important that cognizance be taken of the demand by the body for ascorbic acid far beyond so-called scorbutic levels.”
